Heather currently practices as a DBT individual therapist, co-facilitates weekly adult, adolescent and multi-family skills groups, and participates in weekly DBT consultation team. Heather received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Columbia University in May, 2018. During her tenure at Columbia, Heather successfully completed the DBT Intensive Training Program and Lab under the supervision of Dr. Andre Ivanoff, PhD. Through this program, Heather is trained in exposure therapy, motivational interviewing, substance abuse treatment, suicide risk assessment and protocol, functional analysis and other cognitive behavioral therapies. Heather completed her DBT internship at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, CT providing DBT individual and group therapy to adults and adolescents with substance use disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders, depression, anxiety and other mood disorders. Heather also has experience working as a primary therapist at the Institute for Family Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center in New York City. While at the Institute for Family Health, Heather worked collaboratively with a multidisciplinary medical and behavioral health team providing long term care and intervention to individuals across the lifespan. Heather is also a certified yoga instructor and is the co-founder of The Giving Yogis, a donation-based charitable yoga platform that supports organizations that center on mental health, environmental, racial, gender, and reproductive advocacy. In her spare time, Heather enjoys getting active outdoors, and exploring new areas. She brings her love for movement and mindfulness forward in her clinical work.
