Assessment: (60 min) three initial assessments with trauma therapist
Consultation: (45 min) weekly consultation
Individual Therapy: (45 min) individual sessions
Skills Group Training: (75 min) weekly skills training sessions
The Trauma Program at Metro NY DBT Center offers specialized outpatient consultation, assessment, and treatment for individuals and families who have experienced symptoms secondary to psychological trauma. At Metro, we understand that traumatic events and experiences are unique and specific to our individual clients.
Trauma can include a variety of experiences. These experiences may include, childhood abuse, assault, natural disasters, accidents, or the loss of a loved one. We offer an array of interventions related to discrete experiences of trauma as well as treatment for more chronic trauma related conditions such as PTSD, dissociative disorders, complex trauma and complicated grief. Our clinicians are extensively trained in evidence based interventions including DBT, DBT-PE, EMDR, and Mindfulness. Our approach takes into consideration the needs of each client, provide comprehensive, and effective treatment.

Types of Trauma Treatment Provided:
EMDR
Prolonged Exposure
This is a type of psychotherapy in which patterns of negative thoughts about oneself or the world are challenged in order to assuage unwanted behavioral patterns. The end goal is simply to improve mental health. This is helpful to those dealing with anxiety, depression, or a wide range of other issues. Because the therapy focuses on reshaping the patient’s mental interpretations in order to affect their behavior, it requires active participation from the patient to reach success.
Outpatient PE
Assessment: (60 min) Consultation with a PE therapist
Individual Therapy: (90 min) Weekly Individual Session
